Theresa L. Roetter received her law degree from Marquette University in 1993 and obtained her bachelor of arts, cum laude, from St. Norbert College in 1988. She practices state-wide in the areas of adoption, assisted reproduction, child protection and family law, frequently serving as a guardian ad litem.
Ms. Roetter has extensive experience in litigation and appeals involving children's law. She writes and presents frequently on issues of adoption, child custody, grandparent and foster parent rights including presentations for The Child Welfare League of America, Wisconsin Foster Parent Association and is co-author of a chapter entitled "Grandparent's Rights" in the Wisconsin State Bar publication Advising Older Clients and Their Families (Vol. I).
Ms. Roetter is a fellow in the American Academy of Adoption Attorneys, a member of the National Association of Counsel for Children, and chaired the Children & The Law Section of the State Bar from 2004-2006 where she continues to serve as a Director. Ms. Roetter is active in the community, volunteering her time to Monona Grove High School, the Legal Association for Women, and as a Co-Founder and Director of the Dawn E. Petersen Foundation, Inc.
